Nominations and FAQs

Nominations have now closed and the shortlisted nominees have been contacted.  Thank you to everyone who submitted a nomination, we had a fantastic response with 118 received!

Who can I nominate?
Individuals, teams, projects or organisations in South Derbyshire, or whose work benefits South Derbyshire residents.

Who can make a nomination?
As long as the person being nominated is eligible for the award we will accept nominations from anyone. You could be a staff member, service user or beneficiary, customer, local resident, funder, partner organisation or a member of the public.  Tell us who you think deserves an award.

Can I nominate my own organisation, or my volunteers/team?
Yes, absolutely – we would encourage you to celebrate the good work done by your organisation or volunteers! 

Do I need to tell them I’m nominating them? 
Yes, before making a nomination please make sure that the person or organisation consents to being nominated, is happy for the information about their nomination to be made public if they are shortlisted and is able to attend the Awards Ceremony on the evening of Friday 7th February 2020. 

How will you decide on the winners?
A panel of sponsors will consider all the applications submitted for each category and agree a shortlist.  Winners for each category will then be chosen from the shortlist and announced at the Awards Ceremony, where they will be presented with a trophy. We will make our decision based purely on the information you provide in your form – so please tell us as much as you can about your nominee and why they deserve an award.  The panel may use their discretion to place nominees in the most appropriate category.  More information can be found on the Categories Page.

What if I’m shortlisted?
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an Awards Ceremony at Toyota’s Burnaston Hall on Friday 7th February.  There will be a buffet supper and entertainment before the winners are announced and presented with their trophies.  The other shortlisted nominees will be presented with Runner-up Certificates. Please make sure your nominee, or someone to represent them, will be available to attend.

What about those who are not shortlisted?
We expect to receive lots of nominations, so not everyone will get a prize.  However we will write to everyone nominated to let them know they were put forward and to acknowledge their contribution and success.

How do I make a nomination?
Please complete a separate form for each person, team or organisation you want to nominate. Click here to submit your nomination online – complete all the questions to submit a valid nomination. Closing date for nominations: midnight on Friday 22nd November 2019.

What will happen to the information on your form?
Details of your nomination will be shared with our Award partners and sponsors, who will form a panel to decide the shortlist and winners. The name and details of those shortlisted (but not their contact details) will also be made public when the shortlist is announced – so please make sure they know you are nominating them and are happy for what you tell us on the form to be shared publicly.
